Angry Bird Birthday

Sorry for the lack of posts during July….. with school holidays and Max’s birthday in July there just never seemed to be any ‘me’ time.

Max turned 9 and as with all boys his age they seem to be obsessed with the game ‘Angry Birds’.   I have shown you the cakes we have had made by a good friend of mine Kate Cartland from ‘A Sweet Affair’.  Kate is a very talented and creative cake decorator.   Her cakes are just amazing and this birthday cake was no exception, once again it not only looked fantastic but tasted great too.

Isn’t it just amazing…… Kate originally started out just making birthday cakes for her two girls birthdays, however, from much encouragement from her friends has started her own business ‘A Sweet Affair’ .

Don’t you just love the facial expressions lol.

Take a look at Kate’s Facebook page ‘A Sweet Affair’ and see some of her wonderful creations.

Teenagers!!

I am back to show you my eldest daughter’s birthday cake.    When she saw my posts of Sophie’s birthday cake she asked if I had put her cake on here….. I had to say no!! well as you can imagine with teenage girls not happy.  So this is just for you Charlotte….

Charlotte turned 13 on the 4th February and had this cake made by Kate Cartland of ‘A Sweet Affair’ …

Charlotte had a great day turning 13…… I took four of her friends across to Rottnest Island where I hired bikes for them and they rode around the island visiting many of the beautiful beaches.  For lunch I took them to the Dome Cafe….. then more swimming and home again on the ferry.

I can’t believe Charlotte is now 13, I thought I would show you a couple of photos..

What do you think of the cake? isn’t it just beautiful…. Charlotte chose the colours and design and Kate made into a reality… just gorgeous

My effort …..

In my last post I showed you the gorgeous cake Kate made for my little Sophie.

Well…. Sophie’s birthday fell on a kindy day for her, so I made cupcakes.  I usually make cupcakes just with frosting and lollies to decorate, well this time with advise from Kate I decided to go all out and try something a little different…..

Can you see the edible glitter I sprinkled over the top?

Next time I promise I will show you some cards ………..

Sophie turns 4…..

I had to show you all the fantastic cake I had made for Sophie’s 4th birthday.   Once again made by the very talented and creative Kate Cartland who has a special page on Facebook called ‘Sweet Affair’ .

Sophie and her little friends had a wonderful time imagining what Fairy Land looked like behind the little door …..

Isan’t the cake just gorgeous…. every little girl’s dream cake….. and best of all everything is edible!!

Thank you Kate not only does the cake look fantastic it tasted wonderful too xx

Australia Day

I hope you all had a great Australia Day…… we did we have just spent the last eight days at Moore River in Guilderton enjoying very special family time and just relaxing.

The weather was so hot that we spent the best part of every day at the beach or the river….and with no air-conditioning in the beach house!!!  I had forgotten what it was like to survive without air-conditioning we are all too spoilt and with 42 degree days…… boy was it hot!!

I thought you might like to see a couple of photos…..

Charlotte and Sophie….

Ella in her Aussie girl gear on Australia Day….

The view from our balcony at the beach house…..

Catch you all again soon.

Spot

It really is the silly season….. I have been so busy with the end of school, Christmas parties, Zoo trips, etc., and our second youngest Ella just had her 6th birthday.

We had ‘Mr Fumbles’ entertaining the children for a while (20 x 5/6 year olds and approximately another 5-10 siblings) as you can imagine very hectic.

The children all had a great time…… the best of it was our little Ella said at the end when all her little friends had gone home ….. ‘Thanks Mum and Dad I had an awesome party”…. and that is why we do it!

I had to show you her birthday cake….

Isn’t he just gorgeous!  Our dog is called Toby and Ella wanted her dog cake to be called Toby too.

This fantastic cake was not made by me ….. although I would love to take the credit, but a fabulously talented friend called Kate who is just in the process of  starting her own cake business.  If you would like to know more contact me here

Just thought I would leave you with another photo…. side on this time.

Amazing!!

I just had to show you this…. it appears I have some very talented and generous friends.   Firstly Kate made the fantastic tank for Max’s birthday and now Kendel has wowed me with this……

I gave Kendel this photo of Ella so that she could practise her artwork …

Kendel is self taught and just loves to draw and this is the result.

This is a practise!!! unbelievable!!!

Both Kate and Kendel do not believe they could ‘sell’ their talent.   I have told them both to advertise and I know they will receive plenty of orders.  If you are interested contact me  and I will pass on your information to them.

Wow…..

It is our son Max’s 8th birthday tomorrow and we are having a party at home.   Ten of his little mates are coming over to play Laser Tag (which we have hired for 3 hours) complete with army combat clothes, camouflage face paint and laser guns.

DH has placed danger tape around our property so they know how far they can go along with camouflage netting securing the base.

Normally I make a home made cake, sometimes they look quite good and other times well…. it’s the thought that counts!   Anyway, this time the thought of attempting to make a tank cake was too much.  I asked a friend of mine who is extremely talented and who is thinking of setting up her own business in cake decorating.

No problem she said.   I picked the cake up this afternoon and wow….. what a cake…..

Everything is edible…… the man, sand, tracks and the turret gun.

You should have seen Max’s face, when he saw the cake!

I have told Kate that she needs to start her business, she is amazingly clever and talented…. what do you think?

ANZAC Day

The acronym ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps., whose soldiers were known as Anzacs.

I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend and sparing a few thoughts for those soldiers who sacrificed their lives at Gallipolli after their landing on the 25th April 1915.

Even though my origins are from the UK.  My husband is a Kiwi and our four children are first generation Australians, and we are very proud to be called Australians too.
